Secteur Arenc, Marseille

Marseille is the Mediterranean. A unique human and architectural collage which is revealed in the ever present light. Its richness is its diversity, its strength is its natural and exceptional site. But above all, as the journalist Albert Londres said, « Marseille is the port of the south. »

Our project will tell the story of the south, with its topographic references, a materiality that alternates the transparency of glass with the dominant blue Mediterranean motif of azulejos. This office programme is not just an extra building in the city’s territory. It’s a building that will highlight Marseille’s richness and Mediterranean identity.

This is the first building to appear as part of the dock’s metamorphose and is located on a purely exceptional site. At the meeting point of the city and the port, the building is situated within the prolongation of the boulevard Mirabeau and at the centre of the urban transformation project initiated by the Joliette urban plan.

Symbolic of a renewed port landscape, the project constitutes a new entrance point into the city from the sea, and a departure point towards Corsica and the Mediterranean.
